Below, LAZARUS

This is Lazareth (Lazarus) who has been on the streets starving and abused.  He weighs 35lbs but should weigh 70!
He is so sick and thin from having to make his  way through life on his own.   Some really great and caring people
called us for help after they saw him walking only on his two front legs.  His back and back legs are in such terrible shape
he could barely stand.
The injuries to his face were made by another dog who tried to kill him.  All he could do was lie there
and scream.
He was brought to our vet and given antibiotics and everything he needs to start him on the road to rehab which will
take a long time.  But, he's worth it. He has come home to live with us.
In spite of all he's been through, Lazareth is such a sweet dog!  We want to make sure he will be safe and never has
to look for food again - he will get all the TLC we can give!

 Another Heartbreaking story

This poor starving kitty was found dumped in our yard on a Sunday evening.  Sadly, he died on the way to the vet.

Please, if you see an animal in need, stop and helpPlease!

We always need help with funding.  Rehab is expensive.  Please, help us when you can.  Thank you!

Below, Mary Jane, happy and healthy

We featured MaryJane a while back because we were unable to keep her in our yard and were
worried for her safety.

See below after she jumped our fence, and was hit by a car which shattered
 her right back leg -

After first operation- her leg full of wire and pins

After not one, but two
operations

She isn't out of the woods yet and could still lose her leg. We have hope that the shattered leg will mend, but even so, she will be crippled for the rest of her life.  We have almost 5 acres, and in spite of all our efforts to keep dogs inside our fences,  occasionaly, we have a new dog like Mary Jane who loves to leave the yard and manages to jump our fence.
It's heartbreaking to see a beautiful dog like MaryJane have to go through such misery and to
have her spirit broken.

Unhappy news 6 mos later......
MaryJane's leg never mended and she had to have her leg taken off.
We are all so sad but, know everything was done to keep this from happening and that after
a while she will be fine.
We love her dearly and will take very good care of her.

update  "MJ" did great for a year after her operation but,
sadly she developed an aggressive cancer which took her life.
She was a brave and wonderful companion.

Please, keep your dogs safely in your fenced in yard.  There is no such thing as a street smart
dog and in most communities it is against the law for dogs to be allowed to roam.

We're still trying to raise enough money to Repair or replace our own
fences!   It's right up there on the top of our list, asap!
